I've been coming here since high school and I always have a pleasant experience here. Autumn always does my hair and she is lovely. She did my hair for my senior prom in 2013 and I got many compliments. She also cuts/colors my hair and it always looks good. The products used here work great and smell amazing. My only complaint is that sometimes it can be a bit pricy depending on what you have done so I don't come here as often as I used to.

I don't live in the area (I am in Dubai, UAE,) but was staying with friends and in desperate need of a haircut. My booking was very last minute and on a holiday weekend I wasn't sure who would be available, if anyone. Happily, I was assigned to Jessi Taylor who gave me an excellent precision cut that has grown out nicely in the past month. My appointment was on Saturday 03 September at 12:15PM.

My hair color was a disaster. I went in with a plan and Sarah had an attitude about it. I have never been treated like that before. Bottom line, the plan changed and I only got a full panel highlights which I know nothing about but apparently only on top of my head where my hair parts and that means 6 strands of hair and 9 foils only for 100.00. AND she put in the least amount possible, only 9 foils. And then added the fill in color for hair growth. She put the highlight color which is dark on top of the highlight color and it only set for 28 minutes. She argued with me at the beginning about my hair that I almost walked out with the color on my head. When a stylist tells you how dry your hair is and that highlights will turn it white and that if you cut it it will be fuller and flip out questioning me about what I am asking I should have walked out the door then, but I endured the intimidation and attitude. You cannot see any highlights, I have some odd red colors in my hair and when she asks again if I want my hair cut and then says I think you should keep it longer, i said I don't need a cut that she didn't have to cut it and she changed her tune and I let her cut it. But to have me hold my head a certain way in odd positions for minutes at a time was very uncomfortable. I swear the entire day was ruined from the beginning especially when the stylists says, "let's start over"! Do not let Sarah color your hair especially if you have thick hair. They will short you on foils and if you want the sides done, they make you sign a piece of paper saying you will pay. I normally tip 50.00 and I tipped half that and should have only tipped 1.00 to make a statement. I don't know what is going on with that place but Senior 1 stylist shouldn't perform like that. Additionally, salon days are supposed to be relaxing days and not hell and wondering if someone is going to do the least they can do so they think they make money or spend time in the break room??? I spend over 2000 on my hair a year and it will not be at Birkdale Salon because it is not a salon. A box of color from walmart would have been the same result. This was a complete waste of money and waste of my time, not to mention the tears when I got home to really look to see if I can see the highlights I paid for. The weekend ruined. Now I have to find someone to fix this mess before Christmas. The brassy red color and the 100.00 for highlights that aren't there is not fair to a customer. Someone needs training!
I understand she is one of the more junior stylists in the salon but am of the opinion she will progress quickly as she is quite talented. Please pass along my appreciation for a superb haircut and a most pleasant experience at the Birkdale salon.
